Tips On Donating to a Give A Hand Fundraiser

If you’re preparing to make a donation to a person or cause you care about, we’d like to offer a sincere thank you. Our platform exists to help humanity fundraise, so we’re ecstatic that you’re here to help make a difference.

As you’ll soon discover, we’ve made donating easy, fast, and hassle-free. But we’re here to walk you through the process and offer a few tips to ensure you receive the best experience possible.

Donation Guidelines

When it comes to your donations, we want to keep you protected while optimizing the fundraising experience. That’s why we’ve prepared a few guidelines for the donation process. Please take a look, and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

When donating, please enter your real name. Please note that you can change the name visible on the fundraiser or even make your donation anonymous on the donation receipt.

Please do not donate for someone else. Use your own name, email address, and personal card when making a donation.

Rather than donating to the same fundraiser more than once, please donate once in a larger amount. This will assist in a number of ways, including tracking the sources of donations throughout the lifespan of the fundraiser.

TIP: If you’re an organizer, do not donate to your own fundraiser. You’ll have the option to record donations given to you outside of the platform as “offline donations.”

Why You Might Want to Create an Account to Donate

Please note that you do NOT need a Give A Hand account in order to donate to a fundraiser on our platform. However, creating an account before donating will allow you to:

Keep track of all donations you made
Manage your donations

Having an account also allows you to easily find the fundraisers to which you’ve donated in case you’d like to monitor the fundraising effort or read up on updates from the organizer.

Two Ways to Make a Big Difference (How to Donate)

It’s highly likely that you’ve become aware of a particular fundraiser because someone shared a link via social media or sent you a link directly. However, if you only know the name of the fundraiser or organizer (or if you’re looking for a particular type of cause), you can use the search function to find the right fundraiser.

Once you click on the fundraiser page, there are two ways you can make a positive impact:

To donate, click the “Give A Hand” button. This is where you can enter your donation amount and choose a service tip. Please note Give A Hand has a 0% platform fee for organizers, so we rely on the generosity of donors to operate our service.Once an amount is selected, you can enter card details, choose whether or not to show your name on the supporters tab, and leave a comment with the donation.We also encourage donors to expand the reach of the fundraiser. Do so by choosing the “Spread the Word” button. When you do so, you’ll be given access to a link and QR code to be shared via social media, email, and beyond.
